INDORE: A BJP candidate had a close shave, when two masked assailants opened fire at him in Chandan Nagar area on Tuesday evening.
Jaffar Khan, a candidate from ward no 2, was campaigning for civic polls in the area, when bike-borne men intercepted him and opened fire. The bullet, however, missed the target. Jaffar’s brother Feroz Khan alleged that after the incident, the assailants whisked away.

“We’ve been getting threats over phone to not contest polls. Today’s incident must be the handiwork of those elements,” added Feroz.
Chandan Nagar police station in charge Vinod Dixit said, “We’re investigating the matter.” Jaffar is undergoing treatment at MY hospital for anxiety and blood pressure.
BJP MLA from Indore-1 seat Sudarshan Gupta and mayoral candidate Malini Gaud rushed to the MY Hospital.
Meanwhile, the BJP candidate's supporters gathered at Chandan Nagar police station and demanded immediate arrest of suspects.
It's, however, still not clear as to how bullet fired allegedly by assailants from close range didn't hit anyone, despite the BJP candidate being crowded by his supporters.
